Brisbane is situated in the south eastern region of Queensland, Australia, between the world famous Gold and Sunshine Coasts. With 300 days of sunshine a year, Brisbane is the perfect location for a garden wedding.

Brisbane has four distinct seasons. Spring (September, October and November) and Autumn (March, April and May) are most pleasant with warm fine days and mild nights. Though their is a slightly higher chance of rain during spring than in autumn, this season is perfect for a garden wedding in Brisbane, with the new growth and blossoms appearing in the garden.

Summer (December, January and February) is warmer, but also particularly fine during the day, except for the chance of afternoon downpours. Joncia gardens is particularly suited to weddings in this season, due to the abundant shade and shelter for the guests and the wedding party.

Winters are mild in Brisbane with an average minimum temperature of 10 degrees centigrade and maximums in the low twenties. Though you may not have a bloom of spring, the lush green foliage lasts throughout the year.

Brisbane is ideally suited to a garden wedding any time of year. Talk to Marcia and John from Joncia Gardens about which time of year would suit your special garden wedding in Brisbane.

The Bromeliads are native to the Americas, with one species arriving in West Africa approximately 12 million years ago. For thousands of years ancient civilisations have used the Bromeliad for food, protection, fibre and ceremony. One of the most widely known and popular species of Bromeliade is the pineapple.

The bromeliad is a flowering plant with around 3170 species. Many of the varieties keep water in their overlapping leaf bases. These have become home to a wide variety of organisms. All bromeliads are scented, though in some it is faint, while others have a strong perfume.

Bromeliads come in the largest variety of leaf colours of any plant in the world, ranging from maroon, green, gold, red, yellow, white and cream. Leaves also vary greatly in shape and texture, generally growing in a rosette formation. Bromeliads also vary in size from 2 millimetres to 2 metres across, while others have flowers spikes extending up to ten metres tall. With such a large range of species their are varieties for every location, including home, garden, shade house and glasshouse.

Bromeliads are available for sale at Joncia Gardens by appointment only. Contact Joncia Gardens to arrange a time.

Why choose a garden wedding? A garden is a beautiful and romantic setting for a wedding. Garden weddings are very open to personal preferences, ranging from formal to informal. If you think a garden wedding is for you, you will need to begin by deciding on a location. One thing to think about is would you prefer a public or private garden for your day.

Garden weddings can be held in public parks or private gardens. Private gardens provide more control over the environment. In a public area, members of the general public may be partaking in activities which can be disruptive to your garden wedding, due to noise or space intrusion. There may also be a problem with parking if other events are being held on that day. You will also need to organise the chairs and decoration of the area, yourself or hire someone to do this for you.

Having your wedding at a private Garden like Joncia Gardens, can solve all these problems. Joncia Gardens ensures privacy for you and your guests. You will not be interrupted by other weddings or the general public. Noise is never a factor, as Joncia Gardens is located in the quiet rural area of Logan Reserve. Joncia Gardens has ample parking for your wedding and quests parking.
